Does this pang ever go away?

  • I miss India whenever I see family together
  • I miss India whenever I see a Desi.
  • I miss India in-spite of hearing horrendous story coming out of Mumbai
  • I miss India in-spite of the soaring currency exchange rates. I am not cherishing my dollars!
  • I miss India whenever I see a crowd. Even though crowds in Auckland aren't even remotely close to India's.
  • I miss India when I see someone spit on roads :P Yes! I saw someone spitting on the road here and it wasn't an Indian!
  • I miss India whenever a festival date comes up. Its already shravan and there are loads of festivals coming up!
  • I miss India whenever I visit a temple here. Even the God Almighty feels different here.
  • I miss India whenever I see colors. It is rarity to see such vibrant colors anywhere expect India.
  • I miss India whenever I eat Indian food in Auckland. The taste just isnt there.
  • I miss India when I have to fill in the dishwasher and unload it 10 times a day.
  • I miss India when I have to take the trash out on my own.
  • I miss India when I cant air-dry my clothes. Sunned out clothes are so better.
  • I miss India when I cook on a electric stove top. A pain,really!
  • I miss India whenever I Skype back home and everyone fills me up about the inflation and onions at Rs.60/kg
  • I miss India whenever I see a All Blacks Poster! I want all blue!
  • I miss India when I see Shahrukh Khan on Queen Street Billboard. Yeah! He is coming to Auckland to perform as part of Sensations Reloaded World Tour, I hear. But I am still contemplating if he is worth the $200 ticket to Vector Arena! :P
  • I miss India when it rains here. I miss the monsoon puddles.
I am now part of scores of expats who I think are always in limbo. They don't ever return back to the country but always feel that a part of them is left behind there. Will I ever be able to come to terms and stop missing the country? Do people who say they don't miss India, actually lie? I think they do.

  1. Beautifully put.. and I agree with you, those who say they don't miss India will be lying.. while there is so much that is not worth missing, there is a lot that we can never get elsewhere.
