C is for Coromondel Peninsula,Newzealand

This is my entry to the #AtoZChallenge 2014. I am having loads of fun reminiscing about my favorite places in the world (among-st the very few that I have visited!) . If you want to check out the whole list I will cover through the month, check out my theme post.

Coromondel, the name I easily mistook to be from India and being the Coromandel Peninsula in India. Surprisingly, I wasn't in India , when I was in Coromondel. Heck, I wasn't even in the same hemisphere. This beauty I talk about is in New Zealandt which in itself is synonymous with natural beauty at its best. But indirectly it is named after the Indian counterpart.

Coromondel was my first vacation after coming to Auckland. I went there in October Labor Day weekend. It was slightly chilly but mostly pleasant. I would say it was the best time to visit before the tourists came in during the summer months of December-March.

After coming to Auckland and hearing all about how NZ is so beautiful and awesome, my anticipation and expectation levels for Coromondel were sky high! I wasnt let down, I was actually taken aback by how something can be so ethereal but really real!

Here are the places I visited while I was there:

1) On the way from Thames to Whitianga On the Thames Coast Road.
The road leading from Thames further into Coromondel is breathtaking. I never wanted to get off the car.

2) Driving Creek Railway
Our first sightseeing stop was the Driving Creek Railway which was well worth the stop. The view from the 'Eyefull Tower' is amazing. ( I am running out of adjectives for the sights already!)

3) The very famous Cathedral Cove Cruise along from the Whitianga Wharf
This is the epicness and the legendary stuff any vacation lore is made of. (Sorry for the Barney HIMYM reference. Still in the finale hangover!)
Cathedral Cove
Orua Caves

Shakespeare Cliff

4) The pristine Cooks Beach
Water was too cold for me to get in but too tempting to stay away!

Here is a postcard from Coromondel,Newzealand :)
Tell me if this is isnt picture perfect!

Again I stop photo-bombing just because the post gets too long and not because these are the only places to visit here. I am already planning a trip back to the peninsula as I missed going to the Hot Water beach, Huia Beach, whangamata beach et all.
