A for Austin! #AtoZChallenge

For those who know me, They would wonder why A is isn't for Auckland. For those who don't know me, Auckland,NZ is where I live. But Austin to me is special because its my Brother's home.

'Maayka', or mother's home, after marriage, always holds a special place in a woman's heart. I am lucky that my brother's abode in Austin is also like my 'Maayka'. This is all thanks to my sister-in-law who treats me like her own.

So lets get to Austin,'The live music capital of the world' , capital of Texas,USA. This is the most laid-back , traditional and clean capital I think there is.

I couldn't emphasize more on the 'clean' aspect here. Austin has the most strict no-smoking ordinances. I wish, it were so in more and more places across the world. It is my only complaint about my own home, Auckland. There is a lot of passive smoking going on here. But that isn't our topic,is it?

Thanks to it also being the 'Silicon Hills' with many IT company Headquarters here, my brother can earn a good livelihood.
The places I liked to visit in Austin :
1) The Capitol,Austin
The Capitol Austin, those are the backs of my mother, sis-in-law and brother!

2) Mount Bonell/Covert Park
On my bucket list, is to someday own one of those house that you see along the Lake Austin!
View from Mount Bonell
3) Mozart Cafe, on the banks of Lake Austin, has one of the best views to drink coffee from!
View you'd get while sitting out in the Mozart Cafe!
4)The 360 Bridge or Under the PennyBacker Bridge. If you are into fishing, you should be here for some bass!
Thats me!
5) Blue Bonnets sightings! in Texan Hill Country
Blue Bonnets are the State flowers of Texas. If I am not wrong, their sighting is sought out as the beginning of Spring in Texas.
My niece in 2014 Blue Bonnets!
Obviously, the city boosts of many other places to see. But these are the few places which stood out for  me. I call places memorable when I dont need to google the names and locations of the places. These places in Austin are one of those!

This is my entry to the #AtoZChallenge 2014. I am having loads of fun reminiscing about my favorite places in the world (among-st the very few that I have visited!) . If you want to check out the whole list I will cover through the month, check out my theme post.

  6. Nice to hear about the smoking laws-I actually hate it when people drop their bunch of butts from their car and there is a pile there. Austin looks great and that pic of your niece among the blue bells is so sweet
